Baby Swimming Classes
Baby Swimming Classes
Our infant aquatic programs teach your child water skills in a safe, fun and stimulating environment
A parent or care giver accompanies each child into the water and participates in the session
Acknowledging that babies learn through movement, it is encouraged
Fun surroundings encourage your child to participate and experiment in the water
Children gain confidence and essential water skills in our natural learning environment
These skills promote water safety and prepare your child for more structured learning
Babies are taught to submerge by cueing and pouring small amounts if water over them. The volume of water slowly increases and when baby shows readiness, submersions begin. Initially only momentarily but as baby shows readiness and the caregiver is confident the submersions become longer leading to flotation.
FOR BABIES NOT YET WALKING:
Games, songs and guided activities stimulate your child's visual tracking skills, hand-eye and hand-foot co-ordination
Physical development is facilitated while developing basic water skills
FOR BABIES WHO ARE WALKING:
Our program’s focus changes with your child’s developmental needs
We encourage independent mobility in the water
Babies develop “dog paddle’ - like swimming movements for basic water safety
Perceptual activities promote co-ordination, socialising and body awareness.
Water safety is taught by encouraging submersion, floating, “dog paddle” and climbing skills.
Swimming lessons are not a substitute for proper barriers and supervision.
The skills learnt, however, do add a significant additional layer of protection.
